Many groups do realise a seminar about European issues. What is The European Union, where are the roots, how was the development of the EU and how does it actually function? A very complicated topic. Even experts are from time to time challenged. But more topics are important: what now with the accession of Turkey to the EU, what is EMU - the European Monetary Union - and the €uro in detail, what does migration mean for Europe in the 21st century and how do we deal with international terrorism? All questions which lie at young peoples heart!
But it has not to be politics all the time. What has Europe to offer for young people, for me? Already heard of the Eureopean Voluntary Service or from the programme YOUTH IN ACTION or about workcamps? No? This is just a small extract of the many opportunities for young people to go abroad today. This is also Europe!
Quality of drinking water, security of ligthers, transparent flight fees and less expensive mobile charges in foreign countries - what has this to do with the EU? Just everything! Europe affects us every day, our daily life is European and you don't see it just at the money in your purse or at open borders.
Europe, the EU, is complicated and multilayered but also exciting and very important for our own future. Thus a view behind the scene is so worthwhile.
You are not so connected with the European topic? You want to concentrate on other things? No problem - if you want to focus in your project on other issues you are more than welcome to do so. The bargain is: important is the output for the participants!!! Please say your wishes and together with you we will come up with a joint project which fits into your needs.

How can one conceive the realisation? Are there lectures and presentations?
Our methodical approach is different. It's not like in school or at the university. You don't have to consume everything without being active by yourself. "Learning by doing" is the way we are doing it. The participants should and have to develop things themselfs:
Poster presentations, internet research, historic gallery , quizzes, creative workshops with theatre, talk show, powerpoint presentationen, photostories, video, experimental game / simulation, day trips, House of History, talk with experts, PR flyer, fictional stories , Collages and much more!
In this way the Europe House Marienberg defines "learning". It's not only new facts, it is a broader and participant centered approach!
